Why the Name Change?

BBB Mediation Services is a new name, but we are the same organization that has provided mediation, conciliation, and training services in Central California for nearly 20 years.

Originally, we were known as the Dispute Settlement Center (1989–2005), as were other community mediation centers established within your Better Business Bureau system.  In 2007, we expanded our services from Fresno County to Kern County.  A few months later, we partnered with another organization—Project Sentinel—to establish a program in Stanislaus County.  During the same period, we also began working closely with existing and emerging mediation programs in Tulare and Mariposa Counties.  What began as a local effort was rapidly becoming a regional one, and we emerged as Central California's leading mediation organization.  Voilà!  A new name!  BBB Mediation Services.

Regardless of the name on the page, our mission remains the same: to promote mediation throughout Central California and to make mediation available and affordable to all residents and businesses.
