BBB Mediation Services Staff Members

Jeannie Gillen got her BBB start as a volunteer mediator. However, her mediation experience began long before that. Jeannie holds a Bachelors Degree in Legal Studies and has over 75 hours of Mediation Training from the National Conflict Resolution Center in San Diego, where she recently completed “Advanced Training in Working with Attorneys”. She is a former member of the San Diego County Court Mediator’s Panel and has been in private practice since moving to Kern County in 2001.
In addition to Mediating for San Diego Mediation Center, San Diego Superior Court and now, Kern County Superior Court, Jeannie has spent a great deal of time resolving issues among public land users for California State Parks. She was appointed by then Governor Gray Davis to the California Recreational Trails Committee in 2001, then re-appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2004. Although “termed out” Jeannie continues to serve at the pleasure of the Governor. As an advocate for access, conservation and improvements to public land, she has participated in projects from a local to an international level, resulting in billions of dollars of improvements for the general public.
After volunteering in Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer Court, the BBB warmly welcomed her onto our permanent staff. Jeannie now spends her time and efforts in Kern County’s Probate Court. You can find her there 3 days a week facilitating agreements in Guardianship, Conservatorship, Wills, Trusts and Trial de Novo Cases.
At home “on the ranch” Jeannie enjoys her property, her horses, her dogs and her friends by riding at least 3 times a week into the public lands bordering her.
