BBB Mediation Services Staff Members

Liz Gonzales-Garvin is the Director of Mediation for the Better Business Bureau in Central California. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Sacramento as well as a Masters Degree in Christian Ministry from Mennonite Brethren Bible Seminary. In addition, she has a Basic Institute in Conflict Management and Mediation certificate, from the Center for Peacemaking at Fresno Pacific University. Liz also holds two certificates in Advance Mediation training; these include Personal Injury Auto and Personal Injury (non-auto) awarded by San Joaquin College of Law, Fresno Pacific University and the Better Business Bureau. Lastly, Liz has been trained at Pepperdine University School of Law in Advanced Family Mediation.
Liz started off her professional career as an intern for Bill Jones, a Fresno favorite, while he was serving as Secretary of State. Liz then moved on to representing and consulting political candidates on local, statewide and federal levels. Her experience has brought her in front of many different audiences, including, but not limited to, constituents, the press, non-profit organizations and churches.
Liz has previously served on the Board of Directors for Fresno Airport Rotary, additionally she served as the Public Relations Chair for the Fresno Women’s Network. Currently, Liz enjoys serving on the Membership committee for the Fresno Women’s Network; volunteering at Reading and Beyond; and volunteering at her home church, Copper Springs. Liz is also a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution.
Prior to joining the BBB’s management team, Liz was the CEO and President of Samaritan Women, where she helped develop the non-profit into a larger, more recognizable organization in the greater Fresno area.
She is married to Brett Garvin. Together, they have a beautiful son.
